WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) THERAPY? 

PRP therapy an injection of a concentrated mixture of your own blood. This self-derived product possesses immense capabilities related to tissue regeneration, promotes tissue healing by releasing a large amount of growth factors from the platelets in the treated area, that promote skin repairs. 

PRP has been used for years in orthopedics and sports medicine to aid healing of injured or damaged muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, and pain control. First, the nurse or practioner draws blood from the patient’s arm and then separates the PRP from the rest of the blood’s components. After injecting lidocaine to numb the treatment area, the nurse or practioner carefully injects the PRP into multiple places under the skin. The platelets break down and release their growth factors, which trigger the natural processes of cell proliferation and tissue renewal.
